Historical reconstruction as art. Filmed in the very locations once occupied by Anna Magdalena Bach and her husband, Johann Sebastian, and based on their actual letters, this is more than a biopic. It is a comprehensive attempt to portray these people, their times, and their music, which is presented lovingly and often, in period instrumentation. Newly restored on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary.
