Synopsis

Newly restored, Toshio Matsumoto’s FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES is like a sawed-off shotgun blast of pure invention, direct from the pansexual Tokyo underground of the ’60s. In his ostensible retelling of the Oedipus myth, Matsumoto never lets the viewer’s eyes, or mind, relax. A favorite of Stanley Kubrick and reportedly the visual inspiration for the mod world of his A CLOCKWORK ORANGE.
