Synopsis

Given a major budget, Wes Anderson makes a film on a large canvas — the story of celebrity oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), obsessed with finding and killing the jaguar shark that killed his best friend. It’s excessive in scale — and the ironic humor is occasionally stretched to the breaking point — but it is beautiful to look at, and as a hangout movie with such stars as Murray, Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe, and Jeff Goldblum, it steams along nicely.
